Today is the first day property owners can file a tax objection complaint under Title 8 of the Illinois Property Code (35 ILCS 200/Title 8). Taxpayers have until the close of business on December 4, 2012 to file an objection with the Circuit Clerk of the Court.

As with any legal proceeding, the Circuit Clerk charges a filing fee. The filing fee for tax objections is $136 to open a case, and $100 for each additional parcel (Complete Fee Schedule).

The case number for objections to the 2011 levy is 2012 TX 334. Please consult qualified legal counsel before filing a tax objection. The Will County State’s Attorney, Civil Division, represents the county in these matters.
