Today we launched the new version of our official agency website.  The new site is the culmination of nearly three months worth of study and design, and all of the work was done by in-house staff.

When we started this project, our vision was simple: to provide our customers with the most usable and informative online property tax system in Illinois.  I believe this site sets us on that path.

The new site builds upon the core strength of the previous site, specifically a strong integration to the county’s Real Estate database.  Over the next year, we expect to improve the way you pay your property taxes on our site.  The process should be as easy as buying a book on Amazon.

Improvements We Hope You Will Notice

Before we began designing the site, we conducted more than two dozen interviews with people who use the site regularly.  We looked at what they were telling us and integrated nearly all of those ideas into the new site.

  • An improved design and layout
  • An easier navigation profile
  • More relevant information, organized in a clearer, intuitive way
  • An improved overall site functionality
  • Integration with our Social Media presence

Room for Improvement

Our focus groups also gave us great ideas that will allow us to improve the site and achieve our vision.

  • Multiple Language Support
  • Mobile Home Functionality
  • A Taxpayer Payment Profile
  • Unclaimed Cash Lookup
  • Greater Tax Exemption Detail

Over the next year, we expect to add many of these “modules,” and will start working with other county departments to see these projects through to completion.

What Do You Think?

No website is perfect, and we know it.  The only way we can make this the most usable and informative property tax site in Illinois is to know how we can improve the site.  Please feel free to leave a message below and tell us.

I am in the process of paying property taxes and wanted to know if there is a duplicate fee for not having the original tax bill. I was looking for this information on the website and was not able to locate it.Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    • Our office does not charge for duplicate tax bills if you obtain a copy on our website. If you request a physical duplicate from our office, we charge a $2 fee. To view your bill, go to the “I Need to…” drop down, and then click on “Look Up My Tax Bill.” You will need the permanent index number (PIN) located on your tax bill.
