The Will County Treasurer’s Office charges a fee for partial tax payments.  This article explains those fees as well as how you can avoid them.

Our office will charge you a $2 re-billing fee for every partial payment.  Partial payments made after due dates also incur a state-imposed 1.5% monthly interest penalty on unpaid balances.  So, for example, if you make three partial payments, you will pay the re-billing fee plus the 1.5% interest fee three separate times.

You can make partial payments using your Discover Card by phone, in our office, or by mail.  Discover Card charges a graduated fee that is capped at $38.  You also will pay the re-billing and interest fee.

You cannot make a partial tax payment online or at participating Deputy Collector.

For a complete list of fees, please review the 2011 Fee Schedule.
